One of my goals for my 36 in 365 day project, aka cool way of saying new years resolutions, was to stay caught up on blogging.  Well here I am almost a month in and I am already falling a little behind.  But that’s okay because I can catch back up before my busy senior season hits.  So I haven’t failed yet.  As my first post, in my attempt to catch up, I want to share Kristin’s beautiful senior pictures.  Kristin’s session was a few weeks ago during one of those BEAUTIFUL winter days we had were it was like 60 degrees and sunny.   And we currently still are having beautiful days even thought it’s suppose to be the middle of winter right now.   I don’t know what is going on but I am totally okay with it.  We don’t need a winter anyways, lets just skip it so us Cincinnati photographers can shoot all year long.  Enjoy.

posing guide

I am so beyond excited to release the ‘Back to Basics’ posing guide to you!  I have been working on this guide almost non-stop for the last 2 weeks and am thrilled with the final product.   So….Who is this guide for?  This guide is for the senior, or portrait photographer, who needs guidance or reassurance on how to run their sessions, interact with their clients and give their senior an amazing experience as well as beautiful images.  It’s also for the photographer who just wants to go back to taking natural and fun images.  This isn’t just a guide for learning how to pose your female seniors but for information on how to run your sessions and get your senior comfortable and confidant in front of the camera.   It also talks about how important a pre-session consultation and a senior questionnaire can be for getting to know your senior and creating a session that is all about her.  In addition to the 20 naturally beautiful poses with 32 images, descriptions and tips the guide goes into details about my pre-session consultations, senior questionnaires, what I look for in a location and my gear.  The tips and descriptions not only talk about the poses but they include tips on how to run your session, interact with your senior and give her the experience of a lifetime.

coming soon – back to basics posing guide

I am super excited to announce the release date of my posing guide, which will be next Monday (the 16th of January).  I have been working hard on making sure this guide is not only packed full of naturally beautiful poses that your senior and her family will love but also filled with information on how to take control of your session, interact with your client and feel confident that you are capturing a gallery that not only is filled with diverse images but is also filled with images that will appeal to the senior, her parents and her grandparents.  The posing guide contains 20 poses, some of which you can capture multiple images from (like the one below), descriptions on that pose, how to achieve it and hints that will lead to a better gallery and bigger sale for you.   The 20 poses, and 32 images, are all natural and simple and range from those breathtaking serious images that everyone swoons over to those in the moment laughs and naturally beautiful smiles.  The guide also talks about a pre-session senior questionnaire and the importance of it, what to look for in a location, the importance of giving your senior an experience as well as beautiful images and more.
As a special introductory price, for the first week only (January 16th through the 23rd), the posing guide will be priced at $40.00.  On January 24th it will go up to $50.00.

cidnye w.

I absolutely ‘LOVE’ working with Cidnye!!  She is just one of those models who is up for anything and photographers love that!! We first worked together back in August during a test shoot for a commercial location (see post here) and we both agreed that we needed to do another shoot over her winter break.  I had been throwing around an idea that included paint and lots of glitter for a while and I knew Cidnye would be the perfect model for it so that’s what we went with it.   We ended up shooting in my studio, because it was freezing and me being the mean photographer made her wear a tank top and shorts. Unfortunately my whole glitter idea didn’t go as a planned, see sometimes photographers fail.  The natural sun would have made it sparkle and shine but the studio light, ugh studio lights, didn’t do my pound of glitter justice.   I loved how the paint turned out, even though it was a huge mess, so it was okay but I was sad that the cute top was ruined.  I did try to save it though; but did not succeed.  You might recognize one of these images if you have seen my post of my editing process for black and white images.  If not you can check it out here.
